Frequently Asked Questions

Is The Golf Club of Kansas a Public Golf Course or Private Golf Club?
The Golf Club of Kansas is a Private Golf Club with a twist, allowing some Sponsored Unaccompanied Guest Play in off-peak times as established by the Club. This means that, in addition to Golf License Holder (Member) play:
  • Our Golf License Holders (Members) may sponsor golfers for play, if available, in off-peak times up to 2 days in advance, or
  • Our Golf Facility PGA Golf Professionals or PGA Professionals from other Golf Courses may sponsor golfers for play, if available, in off-peak times up to 2 days in advance, or
  • Golfers without a Sponsor may play Special Preview Rounds during our Introductory Period, or
  • After our Introductory Period, golfers without a sponsor, but possessing a current USGA Handicap Card, can register as a Prospective Golf License Holder. That list will be maintained on file and those Prospects may call to request a golf starting time for play, if available, in off-peak times up to 2 days in advance a maximum of one time each calendar month.

What is the difference between a Golf License and a Golf Membership?
A Golf License grants the holder playing privileges and pricing advantages in the use of the Club facilities, which are comparable to typical Golf Memberships.   Unlike most Golf Memberships, a Golf License is transferable in the future resulting in a return of the Initial Golf License Fee paid. While there are no voting privileges associated with a Golf License, which most Golf Membership have, a Golf License Holder is not liable for operating assessments, capital assessments, or spending minimums, while most Golf Members are.

What is the Initial Golf License Fee?
We started selling Golf Licenses for $7,500 and the price is increasing by $500 for every 25 sold. See the current Golf License Fee schedule for today's price or see a Club representative for more details. Payment plans are available for the Initial Golf License Fee.

What are the dues rates?
Dues are currently $3,120 annually and are billed monthly at $260 plus tax for the Individual Golf License Holder or Designee. Spouses can be added to the unlimited play program for $130 plus tax per month and each dependent child can be added for $78 plus tax per month. (Note: Spouses and children do not have to be included in a dues program. If they are less frequent players they can play at the Family Guest Rate which offers a substantial discount).  A Golf License Holder electing to pay dues in full annually will receive a 6% discount. Dues may be increased annually for cost of living and inflation adjustments.

Will there be a Corporate Golf License?
Any business entity may purchase a Golf License. That Company will then assign one employee as the designee user of the Golf License. There is also an option to add additional designees to that Golf License for very reasonable additional fees. Please talk to a Club representative for more details on multiple Corporate Designees.

How many guests can a Corporate Golf License Holder have at one time?
The Corporate Designee may bring up to three guests Monday through Thursday for the Accompanied Guest rate of $59 (includes cart and sales tax). Any additional guests in a trailing group or groups will be handled at the discretion of the Head Golf Professional at the Unaccompanied Guest rate of $74 (includes cart and sales tax). Corporate Designees may bring one Accompanied Guest only Friday, Saturday, Sunday or Holidays. These are the same guest rules as for Individual Golf License Holders.

Is there a "Lifetime" or Equity Membership available?
Yes, we have a very limited number of these investment memberships available that offer you no cost golf for the term of ownership.  Please see Club Founder Tom Kelly for details.

What if I move out of the area before the Club fills the Golf License roster?
Golf Licenses are not transferable until the Club has sold 400.  Once a Golf License Transfer request is received, dues payments must be kept current until the Club reaches 400 and the Golf License is resold, or the Golf License Holder will forfeit all proceeds from the resale of that Golf License. Once we reach the 400 level, on most Golf License transfers it is likely that the original Golf License Holder will receive a return equal to, or greater than, their Initial Golf License Fee payment.

Are there any Junior or Senior discounts?
There are no discounts on the Initial Golf License Fee, however Golf License Holders under age 24 or age 62 and over receive a 15% discount on their dues.

Are there any referral discounts?
Yes, we want our new Golf License Holders to refer their like-minded golfing friends. If a Golf License Holder gives the Club a referral that is not already in our database, and that person or business entity enrolls as a Golf License Holder within 90 days of that referral, the referring Golf License Holder will receive an individual monthly dues credit of $260 for each referral. There is no limit on the number of referral dues credits a Golf License Holder can receive.

How much guest play will there be?
The total amount of guest play will be closely monitored and controlled by the General Manager. Initially, until the first 300 Golf Licenses are sold, Unaccompanied Guest play may be allowed during all hours. After the 300th Golf License sale Unaccompanied Guest play will be restricted to off peak hours established by the Club. Approved and Sponsored Unaccompanied Guests will then be allowed to make starting times for unrestricted times only two days in advance.

Will there be Golf Outings and Tournaments that limit Golf License Holder play?
We will occasionally entertain Charity Golf Outings and host Regional or National Tournaments. These will be publicized at least 30 days in advance to all Golf License Holders. Golf License Holders will be offered the opportunity to participate in such events, if qualified, and we will strive to have no more than two such events per month. Regular Club events will also be scheduled for Golf License Holders only.

How many days per week will the course be open?
The course will be open 7 days per week March through November on a weather permitting basis. Winter weather conditions will dictate play December, January and February with multiple unplayable days likely. We may close early or have limited services on selected Holidays and there may also be days when the course is closed for maintenance or events. Those dates will be published at least 30 days in advance.

Will there be any mens, womens, couples, senior, or junior programs?
While there will be numerous playing and instruction programs for all of these groups throughout the season, those activities will only use small blocks of playing times. We will not have gender specific or similarly exclusive reserved days or mornings where others are prevented from using any open playing times.

Will walking be allowed?
Cart use is optional and walking will be allowed anytime for Golf License Holders and their Accompanied Guests. The use of pre-approved Walking Carts when walking is also permitted. The Club will also have Walking Carts for rent. Unaccompanied Guests will be required to use Carts.

Can I use my own riding cart?
Only Club owned riding carts will be permitted on Club property. The current 18-hole cart rate is $16.20 plus tax.

How strict will you be enforcing the Club rules?
We are very serious about creating a highly respectful golfing environment. We will insist that all players respect the course, respect the rules and traditions of the game, and respect each other and the staff by adhering to the etiquette of the game. Incidents of lack of respect will be dealt with immediately. Pace of play will be strongly emphasized to insure consistent and reasonable playing times each day of the week.

What type of atmosphere will The Golf Club of Kansas have?
In addition to the spectacular setting and terrain, our passion is to create a captivating golf experience that players will want to return to often. We are committed to superb playing conditions and genuine service standards. It will be a place where everyone will grow their knowledge and appreciation for the game. Golfers will enjoy the unencumbered pace of play, feel satisfied with the value they receive for their investment, and appreciate the Staff's dedication toward helping them improve their games.
