Our Stunning Scenery Will Have You Asking...Are We Really in Kansas?

Taking full advantage of a serendipitous and spectacular locale, our Club which opened in October of 2007, features dramatic playing characteristics designed by acclaimed South Carolina Golf Course Architect Tom Jackson and Project Founder and PGA Professional Tom Kelly.

The Golf Club of Kansas has quickly been recognized as one of the finest 18-hole golf courses in the Midwest.  Part of the new course runs through what was once a 50-acre open pit quarry with 60-foot sheer rock walls. The rest of our layout stretches across 130 rolling acres next to the Kansas Sports Center and the Lenexa City Center.

Some 140 feet of accumulated elevation change provides unique drama for your round of golf. While our course can be a competitive test for low handicappers, holes here have enough negotiable escape routes to allow even the most casual golfer a magical round.

Thanks to the design team's clever use of the natural stone quarry, several holes will provide golfers with lofty panoramas of the amazing countryside.

Strategically located lakes and winding streams meander throughout the property. Combined with terrain that flows from thickly wooded corridors to open grasslands, this setting offers numerous options for exciting, dramatic holes with constant elevation flow.

In the tradition of the Midwest's finest golf courses, The Golf Club of Kansas has wide Meyer Zoysia fairways, A1/A4 bent grass greens and a fescue-bluegrass combination in our rough. Water and the quarry will be the primary hazards, but be prepared for a few other surprises.

Still want more drama?
Finish your round theatrically -- the par-5 18th features a peninsula green set into the lake, and just below the clubhouse. This risky placement was cleverly designed for maximum reward! Look up. Are they applauding from the veranda?

Single-family home sites and commercial business pads will be developed over a six-year period on 120 acres adjacent to the golf course and the Kansas Sports Center. The residential and commercial business community will be linked within walking distance to the golf facilities and the Lenexa City Center.

"We've planned the course to be challenging for all levels of play, but forgiving enough so that the average golfer can enjoy their round," says project founder Tom Kelly, PGA Golf Professional at the new course. "We have alternate routes and multiple tees so that golfers of different abilities can approach the greens from different angles," Kelly said. "We also have fair landing areas and interesting chipping zones around the greens."
